Academic cheating in Ethiopian secondary schools: Prevalence, perceived severity, and justifications

The purpose of this study was to examine Ethiopian secondary school students’ level engagement, justification, and perceived severity academic cheating behaviors. A mixed research approach employed. In the study, 1246 students randomly selected from public private schools participated. Data were collected using questionnaires semistructured interviews. findings revealed that majority are actively engaged in most behaviors with a prevalence rate about 80%. It also found exhibit higher tolerance for forms which evidenced by their lower perceptions seriousness Less probability being caught absence severe punishment be major reasons gave justify engagement cheating. is suggested personnel look at strength application codes conduct.
